Privacy: what this site does and does not collect
Kanaroad runs no sign-up form, keeps no mailing list and asks you for nothing. This page sets out what is left.
The short version
There is no account, no newsletter, no comment box and no form anywhere on this site, so there is nothing for us to store about you. We do not sell data, because we do not have any to sell.
Three things still happen that are worth writing down: the server that delivers these pages keeps ordinary request logs, some outbound links pass you to another company's site, and your browser may keep small files of its own.
Hosting logs
The server that serves these pages records the standard details of each request — the address it came from, the page asked for, the time, and the browser's own description of itself. Those records exist to keep the site up and to spot abuse, they are not joined to anything identifying, and they are not used to build a profile of you.
Outbound links
Some links on this site go to companies that pay a share if you buy something after following them. Those links are marked where they sit, and following one hands that company the usual information any website receives when you arrive: your address, your browser, and the fact that you came from here.
What that company then does is governed by its own privacy policy and not by this one. If you would rather not be passed along, type the company's address into your browser instead — nothing on this site depends on you using our link, and the recommendation on the page is the same either way.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies of its own for advertising or profiling. Any cookie you find will have been set by a company you were passed to through an outbound link, or by your own browser storing preferences.
If measurement is ever added to understand which pages are read, it will be the kind that counts pages rather than people, and this section will be rewritten before it is switched on rather than afterwards.
Children
Kanaroad is written for adults teaching themselves a language and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from anybody, of any age, because there is nothing here that collects.
Changes, and how to ask
If this policy changes, the change appears here. There is no archive of previous versions because there is nothing being quietly removed from one.
